Regent World Changers: An image of the globe overlaid on a collage of Regent life.

When Chuck Slemp ’10 was a student in the Schools of Law and Government, he was also a member of a championship moot court team. Slemp and fellow second-year law student Audre Honnas won the William B. Spong National Moot Court Tournament, sponsored by William & Mary Law School.

“The skills I developed as a student at Regent, especially by participating on the university’s champion moot court team, prepared me for successful representation of clients at every level of the judicial process,” he says.

Just five years after earning a JD and a master’s in Law & Public Policy, Slemp was elected Commonwealth’s Attorney for Wise County and the city of Norton, Virginia. He manages an office of nine attorneys, and works with state and local law enforcement and citizens to prosecute crimes.

Slemp says Regent positioned him to make a difference: “I have been able to put the skills and lessons learned into practice, serving as a member of the Virginia Commission on Youth in advocacy for children and families; as an attorney representing abused and neglected kids; and now, as Commonwealth’s Attorney, prosecuting serious crimes and working with law enforcement to keep our community safe from drugs and violence.”

Please join the entire Regent University community in praying for Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Slemp, March’s “Alumni World Changer.”
