Best Online Program rankings for 2018 recently were released by U.S. News & World Report, and Regent University earned the top spot in two distinguished categories. The university’s College of Arts & Sciences was recognized as the #1 Best Online Bachelor’s Program in Virginia, while the School of Education earned the #1 Best Online Graduate Education Program in the state.

In addition to these rankings, U.S. News named Regent University’s School of Business & Leadership as the third-best online, non-MBA graduate program and fourth-best online MBA program in Virginia. When ranked against other colleges and universities in the southeastern U.S., Regent secured the #11 spot for Best Online Bachelor’s Program, while landing in the Top 20 for Best Online Graduate Business Program (non-MBA) and the Top 25 for Best Online Graduate Education Program in the region.

Regent’s founder, chancellor and CEO, Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson says the university’s strong showing in the 2018 rankings are the result of a major growth initiative launched in 2015: “We strategically invested in many new career-oriented programs and student services in order to offer students a high-quality education. Along with record, double-digit growth in enrollment for each of the past two years, these new rankings are yet another testament to these new programs and services at Regent.”

U.S. News & World Report sends an annual questionnaire to approximately 1,600 regionally accredited public, private and for-profit institutions. The institutions are evaluated using a point system based on their participation in categories such as student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, admissions selectivity, and peer reputation.

“This esteemed honor is a reflection of our remarkable faculty and staff who work to keep Regent at the forefront of quality, relevance and innovation for online education among our peers,” says Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño, executive vice president for academic affairs. “It is an honor and a privilege to serve at a university with such prestigious accolades.”

The American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) also recently awarded the university their prestigious “A” rating for classical scholarship, based on research provided by the organization’s college guide, “What Will They Learn?”

ACTA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring “academic freedom, excellence, and accountability” for American colleges and universities, gave Regent a higher rating than the University of Virginia, the College of William & Mary, the University of Richmond and Liberty University.

Schools receive a grade of “A” through “F” based on whether they offer courses in seven core subjects. Only 24 of the institutions surveyed nationwide earned an “A” rating, according to the official website of “What Will They Learn?”

“This latest ‘A’ rating by ACTA truly highlights the continued excellence in the programs offered through Regent University’s College of Arts & Sciences (CAS),” adds Moreno-Riaño. “Over the past several years, we’ve been very intentional about developing our general education, undergraduate curriculum to conform to the rigorous academic standards of excellence proposed by ACTA. We are very grateful that our 2018 score confirms the quality and integrity of CAS programs.”
